F/X X-Files & Millennium Marathons F/X will be airing a viewer's choice X-Files Marathon on Thanksgiving day. On Sunday, Nov 28, they will have a Millennium Marathon of episodes leading up to the "Millennium" episode on the X-Files that night. Galaxy Quest special on SciFi and USA Network A "20th Anniversary" Special on the fictional Galaxy Quest TV series will air in December on SciFi and The USA Network. It's to promote the Galaxy Quest movie that is opening on December 25th starring Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver. More info at the official website www.galaxyquest.com . They will move The Pretender and Profiler and hour earlier with the new time slots starting on December 4th. As previously reported, NBC has bumped The Pretender and Profiler from the schedule on November 20th and 27th, partly to counter program against ABC's "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" show. Recent Repeat Run Purchases The FOX Family Channel has purchased repeat rights to Early Edition and will make it part of their prime-time schedule sometime next year. TNT has picked up the rights to Psi Factor and plan to run it weekdays late afternoon/early evening starting Fall 2000. USA Yanks GvsE The USA Network has pulled GvsE from there schedule with no fanfare (that I didn't hear about anyways). Not sure if that was all the episodes produced so far or not. Straczynski & Chris Carter Working on a new Series? According to a newspaper article on Fantasy & Scifi TV, J. Michael Straczynski and Chris Carter are working together to develop a movie or a series for CBS. Expect more details (or denial) from Straczynski next weekend at Loscon 26. Weird Al Alert Starting on Saturday, Nov 20th, VH1 will be airing a one hour Weird Al Live Special, plus Al is hosting the Three Hour Fairway to Heaven Golf Tournament that also starts airing Nov 20th. Also, Al will be taking over MTV for a new edition of AL TV! on Saturday, December 4th at 4 pm ET/PT. The live concert video will also be released on home video with additional live performances as well as the videos for "The Saga Begins" and "It's All About the Pentiums". In addition to authors like Connie Willis, Larry Niven, Harry Turtledove and Jerry Pournelle, there will be a good number of SF TV screenwriters & producers participating such as Bryce Zabel (The Crow, Taken, Dark Skies), Michael Cassutt (Max Headroom, Strange Luck), Larry DiTillio (B5, Beast Wars), Fiona Avery (B5, Crusade) and a David Gerrold Charity Auction (It's amazing what he comes up with at these!). FOX Brings Official X-Files Site Back to Life After having been pretty much dormant since the beginning of last season, the official X-Files web site (www.thex-files.com) has been re-activated with news and info on upcoming episodes. FOX To Try Vampires Again FOX has announced that they will produce a pilot for a series based on the British vampire series "Ultraviolet". On tap as producer is Howard Gordon, formerly of the "X-Files" and "Strange World". Trek Special Info >From the UPN Press Release: "Star Trek," the most successful television and film series in entertainment history, will be celebrated in the definitive retrospective, a distinctive, fast-paced special, "Ultimate Trek: Star Trek's Greatest Moments," airing WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on UPN. Jason Alexander, "Seinfeld" star and "Star Trek" aficionado, will host. In "Ultimate Trek: Star Trek's Greatest Moments," viewers will be treated to a remarkable assortment of "Star Trek" moments - both lighthearted and thought-provoking -- from the four "Star Trek" series, scenes that reflect the far-reaching effect "Star Trek" has had on popular culture. Among the segments to be presented will be: "Most Beautiful Guest Stars," "Sexiest Moments," "Most Memorable Villains," "Best Dialogue and One Liners," "Those Last Minute Heroics" and a touching salute to the late DeForest Kelley, "Our Man Bones." "Ultimate Trek: Star Trek's Greatest Moments" will reach out to the phenomenal "Star Trek" fan base with an Internet poll via http://www.startrek.com where fans can choose the "Best Episode of All Time." The winning episode will be announced at the conclusion of the special. Schedule Notes Showtime has pulled two new Stargate episodes from the schedule, throwing in repeats on 11/12/99 and 11/19/99. The pulled episodes will likely air when they resume with new ones, likely in January. Sci-Fi Channel Shuffling in Dec and Jan As mentioned previously, the Sci-Fi Prime schedule will be pre-empted starting Nov 26th (for movies) and the first three Fridays of December for four episodes each Friday of Brimstone. The last two Fridays will be pre-empted by special programming. Starting in January, Sc-Fi Prime will consist of episodes of Brimstone, Lexx, Farscape and Sliders. First Wave repeats are being moved to Sunday nights at least until the second season starts likely in March. No New Lexx on Space, Lots of Lexx on SciFi The third series of Lexx was scheduled to start in mid-November on Canada's Space: The Imagination Station. According to a notice on the channel's web page, it has been delayed until after they encore the second series. Whether this has anything to do with the debut of the series in the US on SciFi and giving SciFi a chance to show the third series first in North America remains to be seen. In any case, the second series will debut on SciFi in January, airing as part of SciFi Prime on Friday nights with addtional airings at other times of the week. The time slots are currently scheduled on SciFi's Schedulebot but not which episodes are airing. Depending on how they are scheduling it, they could run through all 20 episodes of series 2 really fast. Stay Tuned.
